THEN SINGS MY SOUL

This Blog is about one of my favorite things; Gospel Centered Music.

Music is ONE of the simplest forms of learning. Often we are taught entire sermons through just one song.

“Music,is one of the most forceful instruments for governing the mind and spirit of man.” -Gladstone

I am comforted, strengthened and inspired through music.

I love music, and want to share my testimony through the music that inspires me.

Please comment as you wish, and let me know how music inspires you. Make suggestions on what song you'd like to hear, or talk about.

I am going to make it a goal to select a new song each Monday and post it here. I hope as we journey through this we can grow together and live a more Christ centered life.

Dedication to My Grandfather who has passed

WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED DEATH?

What is this thing that men call death?
This quiet passing in the night?
'Tis not the end but genesis
Of better worlds and greater light

O God, touch Thou my aching heart

And calm my troubled, haunting fears

Let hope and faith, transcendent, pure

Give strength and peace beyond my tears.

There is no death, but only change

With recompense for vict'ry won

The gift of Him who loved all men

The Son of God, the Holy One.

God Be with You Till We Meet Again" Hymn #152

1. God be with you till we meet again;
By his counsels guide, uphold you;
With his sheep securely fold you.
God be with you till we meet again.

[Chorus]
Till we meet, till we meet,
Till we meet at Jesus feet,
Till we meet, till we meet,
God be with you till we meet again.

2. God be with you till we meet again;
When lifes perils thick confound you,
Put his arms unfailing round you.
God be with you till we meet again.

3. God be with you till we meet again;
Keep loves banner floating oer you;
Smite deaths threatning wave before you.
God be with you till we meet again.

Text: Jeremiah E. Rankin, 1828-1904

Music: William G. Tomer, 1833-1896

"I Know That My Redeemer Lives" Hymn #136

1. I know that my Redeemer lives.
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead.
He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with his love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed.
He lives to bless in time of need.

2. He lives to grant me rich supply.
He lives to guide me with his eye.
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to hear my souls complaint.
He lives to silence all my fears.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.

3. He lives, my kind, wise Heav'nly Friend.
He lives and loves me to the end.
He lives, and while he lives, Ill sing.
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives and grants me daily breath.
He lives, and I shall conquer death.
He lives my mansion to prepare.
He lives to bring me safely there.

4. He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!
He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!

My Grandfather passed away on May 11th. Fortunately, I was there to say good bye as he was in his last moments of this mortal life.

He will be missed, To know this man was an amazing gift. He had the ability to make each of us feel like the most important person.

He could tell the most amazing stories, and always made us laugh.
He was a good man, with a strong testimony. He has always been an example of love for family and his country.
He fought in WWII and returned with honor, he is a hero!
He married his beautiful wife, and had 5 wonderful children- one is my dad!

I am who I am today because of him, I tease my children in a very similar fashion, I can laugh at myself and be teased because he had that ability.

He lost his wife many years ago and has missed her deeply since.
I am grateful that he is with her now.
How sweet the reunion must have been, to see his wife, and his parents and siblings once again.
The peace that he must now have being wrapped in the arms of his family who are no longer on this earth, but he now can see and talk with. I cannot imagine.

Of, course we are sad that we have to stay here and live our lives with out his wonderful and powerful example among us.

However, he leaves behind him and incredible legacy: 4 children, 29 grandchildren, 44 (and counting) great grandchildren.

I am grateful for My testimony of the plan of Salvation, to know that goodbyes on earth are followed by passing to the other side where there is a sweet reunion.
That this life is not the end.
This I know, and testify of this, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
