THEN SINGS MY SOUL

This Blog is about one of my favorite things; Gospel Centered Music.

Music is ONE of the simplest forms of learning. Often we are taught entire sermons through just one song.

“Music,is one of the most forceful instruments for governing the mind and spirit of man.” -Gladstone

I am comforted, strengthened and inspired through music.

I love music, and want to share my testimony through the music that inspires me.

Please comment as you wish, and let me know how music inspires you. Make suggestions on what song you'd like to hear, or talk about.

I am going to make it a goal to select a new song each Monday and post it here. I hope as we journey through this we can grow together and live a more Christ centered life.

Weekend Special: Stravinsky's Firebird Suite

Extra for this weekend:  The Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky
No, not gospel music....but Yes, inspirational!

FIND A QUIET SPOT TO LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE THING!
YOU'LL NEED 10 MINUTES--BUT YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I know this is a very busy and stressful time for all of us.
It has been for me and my family. So today, after a sleepless worry filled night- I put on one of my favorite pieces of music. Stravinsky's Firebird.....A wonderful piece!

When I listen to this I love to close my eyes and turn up the volume.
When I first heard this I couldn't believe the feelings that stirred in my heart! Happens every time!
I don't picture the music like this video, but this is the best version for sound and performance.

Do yourself a favor this weekend and let yourself feel this music. It will really fill you up!
Listen all the way to the end....I know it is a long one.

When I listen to this, I think of the plan of Salvation, the life and death and the Resurrection of our Savior. The wonderful gift of repentance, and the atonement reveals itself to me at the end of this piece.  I imagine seeing my mother again, I imagine embracing her and then embracing all those that I love, then I imagine being wrapped in the arms of my savior.  I have never listened to this entire piece without weeping.

Listen, and think of the things you feel, the images and thoughts that fill your mind maybe different then what I think of; but you WILL be lifted away. Your Breathing will slow, your heart will heal and the worries of the day will fade to the background...at least for a moment.

I hope you enjoy this weekend special... I know that I have.
Thanks for humoring me. I love you all!
